Child-friendly settlement

In 2008 the UNICEF National Committee, in partnership with National Government, local authorities, children and youth groups existing in the territory, launched the Child Friendly Settlement initiative. With the overall objective to promote a Child Friendly Cities (CFC) movement in the country, the initiative aims to: mainstream the CFC Building Blocks in the development strategies and action plans of the concerned settlements; promote a child-friendly legislation and a child-friendly budgeting; create and increase children’s participation; strengthen the child protection system; improve the awareness on children’s right. At the moment, the Hungarian government is in the process of including CFC in its Action Plan on Youth.
